Cruise Karen: Bruised Despite Special Pillows and Toppers!

For all those suggesting asking for a mattress topper, there were two already on the bed when we arrived at our cabin, plus we have a 1″ topper of our own that we always cruise with. Even with all that, the bed in our cabin left both me and my husband with a lot of stiffness and very poor sleep every night. Both of the beds were worn enough in their middle that when they were pushed together there was a sizable ridge down the middle. I’m still waiting for the bruises on my hips and shoulders to subside, and we disembarked two days ago. Side note: we always bring our own specialty pillows because almost every pillow provided in any room (on land or at sea) is too soft and fluffy. To each their own, but we thought ours bed was only slightly better than sleeping on the floor.

KAREN LEVEL:
7/10

REVIEW:
Ah, the joys of cruising. The sun, the sea, the endless buffets, and of course, the Karen complaints. This one comes from a couple who were not pleased with the state of their cabin bed. Despite having two mattress toppers and their own specialty pillows, they still found themselves waking up with stiffness and bruises. And let’s not forget the “sizable ridge” down the middle of the bed. Sounds like a real nightmare.

SCORECARD:
Entitlement: 6/10
Absurdity: 7/10
Pettiness: 5/10
Hypocrisy: 8/10
Escalation: 7/10
Overall Karen behavior: 7/10

PERFORMANCE:
The subject’s performance was certainly impressive. They managed to bring their own mattress toppers and pillows, yet still found something to complain about. And let’s not forget the bruises and stiffness that lasted even after disembarking. Bravo, Karen, bravo.

VERDICT:
Guilty. The evidence speaks for itself. Despite having all the comforts of home, the subject still managed to find something to complain about. And the “sizable ridge” down the middle of the bed? That’s just the cherry on top.

OPINION:
As someone who has also experienced the joys of cruise ship beds, I can sympathize with the subject’s discomfort. However, bringing their own mattress toppers and pillows shows a level of entitlement and high expectations that is hard to ignore. Plus, the fact that they are still feeling the effects days after disembarking just adds to the absurdity of this complaint.

THE DEFENSE:
Perhaps the subject has a medical condition that requires a specific type of bed or bedding. However, this does not excuse their entitled behavior and exaggerated complaints.

ZINGER:
Looks like the subject should stick to land-based vacations from now on. Can’t have any pesky ridges ruining their sleep on solid ground.
